- Kata venue will temporarily move to the Budokan dojo in Castlehill from 13 Mar to 30 Apr; Kata classes and free sessions will continue to be held on Saturdays; 11:00am to 1:00pm.

Formation of the NSW Judo Kata Squad
The JFA (NSW) Office and BBR would like to announce the formation of an NSW State Kata squad for the 2010 Australian Judo National Championships to be held in Queensland in June. The Kata squad is supported by the following individuals:

BBRA Instructor: Ernie Wakamatsu (Convener)
BBRA Instructor: Dale Keogh
BBRA Instructor: Danny Simmons
The Kata squad selection is planned to be held with the BBR Open Kata Championships on 16 May at the Sydney Olympic Park North Hall Dojo. Selection will be based on Kata pairs attaining at least a Bronze level score and having a rank of at least 3rd Kyu (blue belt). Further selection criteria may be considered.
Kata competitors can compete in up to two of the following Kata forms:
- Nage no Kata
- Katame no Kata
- Kime no Kata
- KDK Goshijutsu
- Ju no Kata
Planned and open Kata training sessions are available every Saturday morning from 10am to 12:00n at the Sydney Olympic Park North Hall Dojo and the Budokan Castle Hill Dojo (while the SOP dojo is closed for the Easter show) to help refine the Kata. Please refer to back to this BBR webpage for updated information regarding the Kata training sessions.
All potential NSW Kata Squad members are asked to provide the following in an Email to Ernie Wakamatsu:
- You and your Kata partner’s name and Email addresses
- Your interest in being selected for the Kata squad at the Kata Championships
- The Katas you and your partner will be demonstrating
- Kata training plan
Monthly Kata Instruction
With the formalization by the IJF of the World Kata Championship, the BBRA now offers instruction in the kata for competition, dan grading, and continued enjoyment of Judo.
Who May Attend: JFA registered Judoka 2rd Kyu and above

MAT FEES: $15
BBR members receive a discount and pay $10 mat fee. All collected fees go to the BBRA Development Fund.
