- [07 Nov 07] Kids Day Out - report from
Shane Alvisio
Rather than 3 set demonstrations we really
had Judo happening from 10am-3pm the whole
time. At various times Dave Gillett and I did
some set kata sequences or throw for throw.
However for most of the day we had kids queing
up to throw a judo player (at times there would
have been 20 waiting at a time) Having my own
kids there in Judo suits giving out brochures
was not that successful because they were more
interested in watching Dorothy the Dinosaur,
Captain Feather Sword, and Ronald McDonald
on Centre stage adjacent to us.
We had only five Judoka throughout the day
and we had kids throwing us 4 or 5 times each
and only twice each as the day continued. We
gave a brochure to every kid who came on the
mat with us (about 400 brochures) - so I am
estimating that between the 5 of us we were
thrown about 1600 times. (I hope our 3 Central
Coast Judo Clubs get some enquiries from the
brochures because I expect to be very sore
from receiving may share of those 1600 throws
!)
Judo was a crowd favourite especially amongst
the other demonstration sports of AFL, Rugby & Netball.
Our demonstration area looked professional
and it stood out very well. We got a few seconds
coverage on tonight's NBN news and many parents
were commenting on the enjoyment their kids
were getting from being able to throw a body
rather than just passing a ball. The day was
very warm and the mats very hot on our feet
- and I have a red sunburnt judogi V on my
chest but I hope it was all worth it ?
Dave Gillett has organised another Judo demonstration
at the Clash of the Codes Carnival being hosted
at Wyong Leagues Club on Saturday 17th November.
We will be distributing the same brochure which
has the contact details of all 3 Central Coast
Judo Clubs and if any of the clubs and members
could attend that would be great. Dave provide
the final details for that demonstration as
large crowds are expected to that one as well.
Regards, Shane

- [19 Oct 07] JUDO NSW CLUB SURVEY
Here’s your opportunity to provide the Board
and our membership with some very valuable feedback.
All members or non-financial members are encouraged
to complete the form and fax to the JudoNSW Office
on 02) 8732 1602.
Background
Firstly thank you for taking the time to review
this email.
We value your time, and even more importantly
we value your feedback.
JFA NSW is currently embarking on a process
to document, clarify and communicate the Strategic
Plan for NSW Judo for 2008-2011. This critical
document forms the basis of all activates in
the Federation, is used to secure funding,
and demonstrate our Sport's Professionalism
and Progression to a number of Government sporting
organisations in Australia. Therefore it is
critical that we get it right, and that all
members have the opportunity to contribute
to that plan.
Purpose
The purpose of this email therefore is to request
your club to complete the following survey
and to fax the results back to the JFA NSW
office by 26th October 2007 for Collation
by the BOM.
This information will be used to define the
priorities of Judo NSW over the next 3 years
and your contributions with ensure success
for us in the coming years
Once again thank you for your time and we
look forward to hearing from you.
Regards. JFA NSW BOM

- [02 Oct 07] Team League Competition Heat
2
Could all teams ensure they have paid the entry
fee for the competition - You may have already
but I need to check with Jacqui at the office.
If you have not paid please do so ASAP. Much
appreciated.
If you have any good action photo's (particularly
photo's of coloured judogi's) could you send
them directly to Steve Fuller so he may put
them up on the website - these photo's should
be a great promotion for this unique concept
in the hope that more teams participate in
the heats next year.
Thanks to all teams that ensured they fielded
teams and some of us needed to travel more
than others to compete.
Please consider the Teams League format and
provide any feedback or comments directly to
me at s.alvisio@hotmail.com.
Another idea for your consideration:
Replacing the State Teams Tournament with the
Teams League format?
1st month Friday Night - (under 13yrs) Boys & Girls
Teams
2nd month Friday Night - (under 16yrs) Boys & Girls
Teams
3rd month Friday Night - Young Men & Young
Women Teams
4th month Friday Night - Mens & Womens Teams
5th month Friday Night - Masters Mens & Womens
Teams
6th month Friday Night - The final match of
each of the preceeding monthly Fight Nights.
(10 gold/silver medal matches)
The overall Teams League trophy could then
be awarded to the club that has entered the
largest number of teams in all of the categories.
This proposed format may ensure that more
clubs could enter teams (because of the smaller
teams required)
Anyway one idea to get the email conversation
started.
Thanks again for your support and see all
of you at the 2007 Team Legaue Final on the
30th November.
Shane.

Dear fellow judo players and club officials,
could you please inform all judo players of the

This is a fun and exciting concept that we
hope you will all support. We will be sending

but wish to give as much notice as possible.
As this date is the last day of the NSW school

submitted by Thursday 5 April.
Please note that there will also be a kata
competition and a judo demonstration competition
and that a prize will also be offered for the
best kata (1 to 3 sets) and demonstration (1-5
mins) on the day!
So long as we have enough entries, we would
also like to hold a novice teams competition
and veterans team competition, so please spread
the word and encourage everyone to come along!
Yours in judo spirit
