The Central Coast Open has become the largest regional Judo tournament in Australia\, with 325 entries in 2022. \nAfter the successful implementation in 2023\, the Central Coast Open will again promote satellite weigh-ins back at your own Judo Club to further encourage an increase in participation numbers and be more convenient for parents. \n\nENTRIES will be done via Smooth comp. Entries will close midnight on Thursday 2nd Smoothcomp allows participants to check who will be within their particular draws\n\n\nThe draws will be published on Smooth comp throughout Friday The draws will not be seeded as this is only a regional competition. There will be no changes to these draws caused by athlete weight changes\, as this will not be permitted. (there may be draw changes due to amalgamation of categories)\nSATELLITE WEIGH-INS. We request that all Judo Clubs that have athletes participating will host weigh-ins. There will be no general weigh-in at the Central Coast Open on the morning of the tournament.\nThe weigh-in process delays the commencement of the tournament and our event is requesting all weigh-ins to be completed back at your local Judo Club (or home).When entering via smoothcomp\, participants will be required to enter their weight category. This needs to be accurate\, as all judoka will have their weight checked just before stepping onto the mat for their first match. The scales will be literally sitting beside the contest area.The judoka can be weighed in their judo trousers and a tolerance will be permitted for their judogi or just wearing judo trousers.  (Juniors 500gram & Seniors 1kg) \nThere is a history of some parents who do not appreciate the importance of entering their children with the correct weight as part of the Smoothcomp entry process. We request that parents are in doubt\, they check with their Club Coach to ensure participants are entering their correct weight as part of the entry process for the tournament. \nIf a judoka’s weight is above the tolerance then the judoka will be withdrawn from the division (no-refund will apply) and all opponents they would have played will win by forfeit. These judoka will not be permitted to play up the next weight category – so parents & coaches please ensure junior judoka weight entry is accurate.\n\n\nThe Central Coast tournament will host division for: Novice\, Mid-Level & Experienced competitors.\nAdult Judoka:\nC-Division (Yellow & Orange Belts)\,\nB-Division (Green & Blue Belts)\,\nA-Division (Brown & Black Belts).Junior Judoka:\nC-Division (Novice)\,\nB-Division (Limited Tournament Experience)\,\nA-Division (Regular Tournament Experience OR State Team Members)\n\n\nTournament organisers may need to amalgamate weight categories (usually this occurs with the lightest & heaviest weight categories) Amalgamation will automatically occur if there is only one weight category difference.\nEg: Under 36kg Novice Girls (if required) will be amalgamated with under 40kg Novice Girls without notice. Any further amalgamation will require permission from coaches (1st) OR parents (2nd).\nAmalgamations will occur within the Divisions: Novice with Novice\, A-Division with A-Division for example.\n\n\nTo help attract newer entries\, Adult C-Division competitors will not be permitted to perform Arm-Locks or Chokes. Throws & Holds only. Any competitors with previous martial arts experience who may prefer to perform Arm-Locks or Chokes should consider playing up with the B-Division.\nParticipants may choose via their smoothcomp entry to compete up a division.\nEG1: A Green or Blue Belt (B-Division) may choose to compete with the Brown & Black Belts (A-Division) – But cannot compete in both divisions.\nEG2: Junior participants in B-Division may choose to compete in A-Division but cannot compete in both B&A divisions.\n\n\nThe tournament will be conducted in three separate sessions to ensure participants can arrive later with confidence that they know the earliest commencement time.\nSession ONE: to commence at 8.30am (Mons & Cadets)\nSession TWO: will not commence before 10.00am (Jun Boys/Girls\, Sen Boys/Girls\, Jun Men/Women)\nSession THREE: will not commence before 1.30pm (Men/Women & Veterans)\n\n\nRegular size Medals will be presented for the C & B Divisions placegetters.\nOversized Medals will be presented to the A Division placegetters.”\nThe medal presentations will be awarded immediately following each weight category at the Medal Presentation Area\, while the tournament bouts continue.\n\n\nWhen the Draws are released on the Friday – we request that Club Coaches to contact the organisers if they notice a discrepancy in the draw with matchups. Eg: We want to avoid any Junior or Adult Experienced competitors from competing in the lower Divisions just to get themselves some “easy wins”.\nIf Club coaches notice their athlete has not been matched with an opponent\, please contact the organisers on Friday and suggest a change. DESCRIPTION:Register Here\n  \n2024 Judo Coach Accreditation Course 2\nSunday 16th June 2024 – 9am – 1pm\nAssistant\, Judo Coach & Senior Coach Levels\nNSW State Judo  Training Centre – Newington Armoury\n  \nThis course is designed for new and existing Coaches (including NCAS Coaches) to gain or update their accreditation. \n  \nThis course will include the following three (3) levels: \n\nAssistant Coach (1 Day) – Coaches children and beginners under the guidance of a Club Coach (Min Age 16 yrs & Min Grade – Senior Blue Belt)\nCoach Judo (1 Day) – Coaches and conducts Judo sessions at club level across a range of athlete abilities (Min Age 18 yrs & Min Grade – Senior Brown Belt)\nSenior Judo Coach– Coaches with experience coaching club and state level Judoka across a range of age groups and abilities (Min Age 18 yrs & Min Grade – Shodan)\n\n  \nApplicants need to complete the following theory components prior to attending the practical course: \nAssistant Coach \n\nCommunity Coaching- Essential Skills\nHeads Up Online Course\n\nCoach Judo \n\nCommunity Coaching- Essential Skills\nHeads Up Online Course\nASADA Level 1 Anti-Doping Online Education\n\nSenior Coach \n\nHeads Up Online Course\nASADA Level 1 Anti-Doping Online Education\nPlay by the Rules Online Courses (Child Protection and Harassment and Discrimination)\nASC Intermediate Coaching General Principles – This is delivered through the State or Territory Departments of Sport and Recreation and Judo Australia. DESCRIPTION:The Judo NSW Black Belt Register (BBR) looks to prepare black belt candidates (Shodan and above) for their upcoming Dan Grading (7th July 2024) by reviewing black belt Judo technical requirements as described in the latest “Judo Australia National Grading Policy.” At the end of the three day session\, attendees should feel confident to meet the Dan grading panel to demonstrate their Judo knowledge. \nRefereeing skill and knowledge are outside the scope of the study group. While primarily focused on black belt promotion candidates\, 2nd and 1st Kyu grade cadets and seniors are welcome to attend. \nThe study group shall meet as follows: \n\nDate:  22\, 29 June and 6th July 2024 (Saturdays)\nSession Times: 10 AM-12:00 Noon (to review Kata) and 1:30 – 4:00pm (to review technical requirements)\nPlace: Judo NSW Martial Arts Dojo\, Newington Armoury\nREGISTER HERE – https://www.revolutionise.com.au/judonsw/classes/40989\n\nThe study group will be led by BBR instructors\, but the study group will be highly interactive as Dan promotion candidates will show and explain to each other the techniques in Tachiwaza (standing techniques) and Newaza (mat techniques).
