SUMMARY:End of Year DAN Grading Prep Workshop 4
DESCRIPTION:The Judo NSW Black Belt Register (BBR) looks to prepare black belt candidates (Shodan and above) for their upcoming Dan Grading (26 Nov 2023) by reviewing black belt Judo technical requirements as described in the latest “Judo Australia National Grading Policy.” At the end of the four day workshop\, attendees should feel confident to meet the Dan grading panel to demonstrate their Judo knowledge. Refereeing skill and knowledge are outside the scope of the workshop.  While primarily focused on black belt promotion candidates\, 2nd and 1st Kyu grade cadets and seniors are welcome to attend. The study group shall meet as follows: \n\nDate: 4\, 11\, 18\, and 25 November (Saturdays)\nSession Times: 10:00 AM-12:00 Noon (Kata) and 1:30 – 4:00pm (technical)\nPlace: Judo NSW Martial Arts Dojo\, Newington Armoury\n\nAll Dan promotion candidates are expected to have a working knowledge of their Kata.  If a Kata other than Nage is required\, please contact Ernie Wakamatsu. Candidates who do not have a working knowledge of their Kata\, should begin attending the Saturday Kata classes (10am\, Judo NSW Martial Arts Dojo\, Silverwater) as soon as possible. \nThe study group will be led by BBR instructors and will be highly interactive as Dan promotion candidates are expected to show and explain to each other the techniques in Tachiwaza (standing techniques) and Newaza (mat techniques). All Dan promotion candidates are expected to have reviewed and study the grading policy.

DESCRIPTION:FUTURES CAMP – FOR 12 to 15 YEAR OLD ATHLETES \nHeld Saturday 4th & Sunday 5th November at The NSW State Training Centre. \nAn initiative of Judo NSW to introduce our up and coming athletes to High Performance pathways and what it takes to succeed as a Senior in the sport of Judo. \nJudo NSW has assembled a cracking list of presenters including 4 former Olympians and a Chinese National Champion to pass on their knowledge. \nOur Keynote speaker for the weekend will be none other than Sue Williams\, Australia’s only Olympic Games GOLD medalist in Judo from the 1988 Seoul Olympics. Sue will talk to the athletes about mind-set and what it takes to win at the highest level. \nCosts per athlete for the 2 day event will be $25 inc GST for Judo NSW Members. (Interstate Members – $50 inc GST) \nParticipants are asked to bring their own lunch/snacks/water as this will not be provided. \n \n

DESCRIPTION:The NSW Referees Commission will be hosting a Rules Seminar on 13th August at the Armoury (State Training Centre) and invite all Referees and Coaches to take part in the Session. \n\nOn mat rules session will be run from 11.30 to 1 pm.\nIt will be followed by light lunch from 1 pm to 1.30pm.\nNSW Referee Commission AGM will be from 1.30pm to 2.15pm.\nWhite Judo Gi will be compulsory.\nFor coaches\, we will cover many Safety aspects\, which we need to understand\, why rules are changing\, why Judo is different and other safety considerations.\nWe will cover head defence\, bridging\, some new interpretations and kawazugake-like key situations.\nThe rest of the session will be run as a Q and A.\nWe expect each attendee to come prepared with the question or send it beforehand.\n\nAGM is compulsory for all registered referees and an excellent opportunity to provide new updates and ask question
