SUMMARY:Mid Year DAN Grading Prep Session-2
DESCRIPTION:The Judo NSW Black Belt Register (BBR) looks to prepare black belt candidates (Shodan and above) for their upcoming Dan Grading (20th August 2023) by reviewing black belt Judo technical requirements as described in the latest “Judo Australia National Grading Policy.” At the end of the three day session\, attendees should feel confident to meet the Dan grading panel to demonstrate their Judo knowledge. \nRefereeing skill and knowledge are outside the scope of the study group.  While primarily focused on black belt promotion candidates\, 2nd and 1st Kyu grade cadets and seniors are welcome to attend. \nThe study group shall meet as follows: \n\nDate: 29th July\, 5th August\, 12th August (Saturdays)\nSession Times: 10 AM-12:00 Noon (to review Kata) and 1:30 – 4:00pm (to review technical requirements)\nPlace: Judo NSW Martial Arts Dojo\, Newington Armoury\n\n  \nThe study group will be led by BBR instructors\, but the study group will be highly interactive as Dan promotion candidates will show and explain to each other the techniques in Tachiwaza (standing techniques) and Newaza (mat techniques). All Dan promotion candidates are expected to have reviewed and study the grading policy\, as well as to have a working knowledge of their Kata.  Candidates who do not have a working knowledge of their Kata\, should begin attending the Saturday Kata classes (10am\, Judo NSW Martial Arts Dojo\, Silverwater) as soon as possible. \nHigh Level Agenda\nFirst Session\, 29th July \nAM – Kata\nPM – Ukemi and Nage Waza requirements\, including the Gokyo and Shinmeisho techniques\n \nSecond Session\, 5th August \nAM – Kata\nPM – Shinmeisho\, Renraku waza\, Kaeshi waza\, and start Newaza requirements\n \nThird Session\,12th August \nAM – Kata\nPM – Osaewaza\, Turn overs\, Moving past the legs\, Shime waza\, and Kansetsu waza

DESCRIPTION:The NSW Referees Commission will be hosting a Rules Seminar on 13th August at the Armoury (State Training Centre) and invite all Referees and Coaches to take part in the Session. \n\nOn mat rules session will be run from 11.30 to 1 pm.\nIt will be followed by light lunch from 1 pm to 1.30pm.\nNSW Referee Commission AGM will be from 1.30pm to 2.15pm.\nWhite Judo Gi will be compulsory.\nFor coaches\, we will cover many Safety aspects\, which we need to understand\, why rules are changing\, why Judo is different and other safety considerations.\nWe will cover head defence\, bridging\, some new interpretations and kawazugake-like key situations.\nThe rest of the session will be run as a Q and A.\nWe expect each attendee to come prepared with the question or send it beforehand.\n\nAGM is compulsory for all registered referees and an excellent opportunity to provide new updates and ask question

DESCRIPTION:Event 2 of the 2023 Judo NSW Community Series is designed by Judo people\, for Judo people to encourage the development and growth of all areas of Judo\, both on and off the mat. \n\nEVENT 2 –  JUDO COMMUNITY SERIES \nBlacktown Leisure Centre\, Sentry Drive\, Stanhope Gardens\nBack to Blacktown to enjoy the free parking and no additional moving of equipment! \nWEIGH-INs \nSatellite-only weigh-in – Please email office@judonsw.com.au no later than 8 pm on Saturday 26th August 2023 by your club representative only.\nChecks will be done the next day at random. \nFailure to report a weight by this time will result in you being removed from the draw.\nDraws will be started 8 pm that night which usually takes a couple of hours but will be ready for an 8.30 am start on Sunday.\nPlease note incorrect weigh-in produces time delays to draws\, unfair fighting and is not in the spirit of the Community Series.\nWe want to get as many fights in for people as possible and by doing satellite weigh-ins we can get started asap earlier and go for longer. \nEstimated START TIME 8.30am\nLive player updates via Smoothcomp during the day. \nENTRY FEES \n$35 per division\n$15 per additional division \nMedals will be awarded in all divisions.
