SUMMARY:2025 Mid Year Dan Grading Preparation Workshops
DESCRIPTION:Judo NSW and the Black Belt Register (BBR) looks to prepare black belt candidates (Shodan and above) for their upcoming Dan Grading (17th August 2025) by reviewing black belt Judo technical requirements as described in the latest “Judo Australia National Grading Policy.” At the end of the three day session\, attendees should feel confident to meet the Dan grading panel to demonstrate their Judo knowledge. \nRefereeing skill and knowledge are outside the scope of the study group. While primarily focused on black belt promotion candidates\, 2nd and 1st Kyu grade cadets and seniors are welcome to attend. \nThe study group shall meet as follows: \n\nDate:  2\, 9 and 16th August 2025 (Saturdays)\nSession Times: 10 AM-12:00 Noon (to review Kata) and 1:30 – 4:00pm (to review technical requirements)\nPlace: Judo NSW Martial Arts Dojo\, Newington Armoury\nCost: $60 per session or $150 for all 3 sessions\n\nThe study group will be led by BBR instructors\, but the study group will be highly interactive as Dan promotion candidates will show and explain to each other the techniques in Tachiwaza (standing techniques) and Newaza (mat techniques). All Dan promotion candidates are expected to have reviewed and study the grading policy\, as well as to have a working knowledge of their Kata. Candidates who do not have a working knowledge of their Kata\, should begin attending the Saturday Kata classes (10am\, Judo NSW Martial Arts Dojo\, Silverwater) as soon as possible. \nREGISTER HERE \nHigh Level Agenda \nFirst Session\, Saturday 2 August 2025\nAM – Kata\nPM – Ukemi and Nage Waza requirements\, including the Gokyo and Shinmeisho techniques \nSecond Session\, Saturday 9 August 2025\nAM – Kata\nPM – Shinmeisho\, Renraku waza\, Kaeshi waza and start Ne Waza requirements \nThird Session\, Saturday 16th August 2025\nAM – Kata\nPM – Osaewaza\, Turn overs\, Moving past the legs\, Shime waza\, and Kansetsu waza

DESCRIPTION:  \nPLEASE READ THE IMPORTANT PROCESS & DATE INFORMATION BELOW \n  CLICK HERE TO REGISTER \n  \nDAN (BLACK BELT) GRADING (1-3 Dan) EXAMINATION (Sun 17 August 2025) \nThe Dan Grading (1-3 Dan) will consist of the following components: \n\nOpening and bow-in (Rei) – 9:30AM\nBatsugun (subject to entries) – from 9:30AM\nKata examination – following the Batsugun (est. 11:00AM)\nTechnical (Waza) examination – will commence following the Kata\n\nKodokan 1 Dan to 3 Dan Grading Opportunity \nEligible Judo NSW members undertaking Judo NSW 1-3 Dan Grading can also seek to have their JA Dan grade ratified with the Kodokan.  You will also need to complete the follow steps prior to the Judo NSW Dan Grade Closing Dates: \nStep 1 – Complete the online Kodokan Membership Application Form – click here \nStep 2 – Complete the Judo Australia Kodokan Dan Grade Application – download from Files for Download section below. \nStep 3 – pay when required the JA invoice for Kodokan Membership & Kodokan Dan Grading.
