EOI – Tournament Strategic Working Group

Judo NSW recognises the importance of ensuring opportunities for all athletes to participate in various competitive opportunities as experiences in these environments can have a direct impact on participation and retention within the sport.

Expressions of interest are now invited for interested parties to join a Judo NSW Tournament Strategic Working Group. The aim of this working group is to provide input and advice in tailoring a program of tournaments within NSW at club, state and international open level to ensure a comprehensive and progressive pathway of competition for all judoka looking to participate in various tournament opportunities within NSW. The Charter of the Working Group is available below

We encourage participation from club administrators, coaches, athletes, referees, parents, from all over NSW to be involved in this working group and for it to cover both shiai and kata components.

Please note, the remit of the working group is not to assist in running Judo NSW tournaments (although we are always grateful for the help!); but to help formulate a plan, materials and calendar that offers a coordinated and progressive plan of tournament opportunities within NSW for our members.

This group will work with NSW clubs, Judo NSW and related partners to maximise participation opportunities for athletes, as well as pathways for tournament administrators, officials and referees.

We envisage the first meeting to scope the project to be held face-to-face and will require ~3 hours. This meeting will ideally be held by early to mid-November to provide a draft calendar for 2025 by the end of November.

If you would like to see more opportunities for various competition formats in NSW and are keen to be involved, please send your Expressions of Interest to [email protected] by COB Monday 28 October.
