2026 NSW State Team Nominations
National Championships – 7th – 9th June 2026
1. NSW 2026 STATE TEAM NOMINATIONS
Nominations are now sought from interested athletes to compete at the 2026 National Championships and need to be completed online by no later than MIDNIGHT ON FRIDAY 27th MARCH 2026 to attend the STATE SHIAI CAMP.
Anyone who registers after Friday 27th March will not receive a customised shirt and individuals will need to order and pay for their own T-Shirt.
- Junior Competitors must have achieved a minimum of Junior Orange Belt.
- Senior Competitors (including Cadets and older) must have achieved a minimum of Senior Green belt. Competitors may be asked to provide proof of Grade before being allowed to compete.
Please note, due to the timing of Easter, School Holidays and Anzac Day in 2026 the State Training Camp will be held on 28th & 29th March 2026.
Registration Fee
$200 (Entry Fee for One division and NSW State Training Program*)
Extra Divisions will be $80 per Division.
*Registration Fee includes NSW Team Training Shirt, Two NSW Back Patches, attendance at NSW Training Camp and weekly State Team Training sessions and contributes towards administration and volunteer Team Manager and Coaching subsidies.
A additional late Fee of $100 will be added to all entries after the FRIDAY 24TH APRIL as per JA Sporting Code.
Nominations and Payments will not be accepted at the State Training Camp.
Extra Division Entries
If you are competing in multiple categories please then ensure that you select the extra entries from the Extra Divisions section.
Note – you must enter for your primary Age Category (eg Cadet, Junior, Veterans) prior to entering any Extra Divisions.
Refunds
Please note:
· No Tournament Entry refunds will be given after Friday 24th April 2026.
· NSW State Training Program Fees are payable for all entries including those who register after 26th March 2026 and who may not attend the camp.
**Athlete Eligibility
To be eligible to compete in the national championships, a competitor must be an Australian resident who resides in Australia and has permission to remain permanently—either because they are:
- an Australian citizen
- the holder of a permanent residency visa
- a protected Special Category Visa holder
- a refugee with official status with valid insurance coverage (Proof of status required to accompany individual entry to Judo Australia, General Manager of Pathways and Performance.
- a holder of a subclass 124 Global Talent Visa or subclass 858 Global Talent Visa (Proof of Visa required to accompany individual entry to Judo Australia General Manager of Pathways and Performance.
Additionally:
- persons who have resided continuously in Australia for a minimum of 12 months immediately preceding the championships and have initiated, or their parent(s)/ legal guardian(s) have initiated the process of gaining Australian citizenship or permanent residency, as evidenced by documentation from the relevant Australian authorities are eligible to compete in the national championships
- Junior Men/Women, Cadets and girls and boys foreign athletes residing in Australia are eligible to participate in the national championships under the following conditions:
· Proof of residency in Australia for a minimum of three (3) months
· Demonstration of their parents’ or legal guardians’ integration in Australia for at least three (3) months
· Evidence of integration into the school or university system or proof of employment for a minimum of three (3) months
· Membership with a judo club affiliated with Judo Australia.
Any competitor failing to meet the above criteria shall be ineligible to participate in the national championships.
Local Sporting Champions Grant –
Judo NSW encourages eligible Judoka to apply for this grant.
The Local Sporting Champions program provides financial assistance for coaches, officials and competitors aged 12-18 participating in state, national or international championships.

If successful, applicants will receive $500-$750 towards the cost of attending their championships.
- Base Grant: $500
- Applicants travelling 800km – 1999km to their nominated championships: + $100
- Applicants travelling internationally or greater than 2000km to their nominated championships: + $200
- Applicants residing in a rural electorate: + $50
Selection Criteria
Final State Team assessment and selection will be based on State Team Training participation (both sessions attended and athlete training session performance). This assessment and selection will be completed by the State Coaching Team.
Athletes who have not met the Selection Criteria and still wish to enter must seek an exemption in writing from the NSW State Coaching Team by emailing [email protected] with any relevant supporting evidence.

Existing Medical Conditions
Junior Athletes are requested to disclose any relevant medical conditions or illnesses (including but not limited to asthma, diabetes, epilepsy, allergies etc.).
To disclose a relevant medical conditions or illnesses you will need to download and complete the Judo NSW Medical Form – click here and then scan and email to [email protected].
Athlete Image Upload
All nominating athletes are required to provide a new digital image (jpeg format) of themselves.
**The image requirements are passport style (ie head and shoulders only) max 1Mb file size.**
The file name needs to be: FIRST NAME-FAMILY NAME-NSW & MEMBERSHIP NUMBER – eg “Bob-Jones-NSW32345.jpg”.
This image is required for identification purposes at the 2026 National Championships.
2. NSW STATE TEAM TRAINING PROGRAM
Training Program and Annual Camp
The Junior and Senior Shiai Training Camp will be conducted on 28th & 29th March at the Judo NSW Training Centre, 1 Jamieson St, Newington Armory, Sydney Olympic Park (click here for site map).
Attendance at the training camp is a mandatory requirement for ALL Seniors and Juniors for inclusion in the 2026 NSW State Team.
The camp is also open to non-members and Interstate athletes. The cost of the camp for non-State Team members is $60 for full camp or $40 for one day.

Weekly Training will be held on Wednesday Nights between 22nd April to 3rd June 2026 (7 sessions) and on Saturdays between 2nd May and 30th May (5 sessions).
Please refer to the State Selection Criteria for minimum training attendance requirements.
3. NON STATE TEAM MEMBERS AND INTERSTATE VISITORS – TRAINING CAMP ONLY OPTION
Non State Team Members and Interstate athletes can also register to participate at the Shiai Training Camp (28th & 29th March).
The cost of the camp for non-State Team members and Interstate athletes is $60 for 2 days and $40 for 1 day.
Interstate athletes should contact Judo NSW prior to registering for the camp(s).
Final acceptance of athletes to participate in the Training Camp will be made by the NSW State Coaches prior to the start of the camp.
Attendance at weekly State Training Sessions of non-State Team Members and Interstate Visitors is at the discretion of the NSW State Coach Lead.
3. TEAM APPAREL & MERCHANDISE
Please note Judo NSW State Team has a new supplier of Team Apparel and Merchandise

Mandatory Apparel requirements;
- Judo NSW State Team Tee Shirt – ORDERED AND SUPPLIED BY JUDO NSW (Do not order your own unless you want an extra or you missed the 27th March cut off for a customised shirt)
- NSW Zip-Through Jacket – To be purchased online by athlete ($82.50).
Judo NSW branded items can be ordered through the portal (https://www.thesuf.com.au/judo) no later than SUNDAY 12th April 2026. No changes can be made to orders after this date.

All team members are expected to wear Judo NSW team uniform including the Jacket & T-Shirt during the 2026 National Championships.
Athletes participating in any Team ‘Walk-on’ or Opening Ceremony should wear the Jacket, t/shirt and white judogi pants.
